Sink Installation in Decatur, AL
Serving Decatur Homeowners with Full-Service Plumbing Since 1978
Valley Heating & Cooling has served homeowners in Decatur, Alabama and throughout North Alabama since 1978. Our plumbing services cover the full range of residential needs, including kitchen sink installation, bathroom fixture upgrades, and utility or laundry room replacements. One call connects you to a team that handles plumbing alongside heating, cooling, and air quality work, so you don’t need a separate contractor for every job in your home.
Sink installation involves more than swapping out a basin. Each job includes removing the existing fixture, fitting and sealing the new sink, connecting hot and cold supply lines, installing the drain assembly and P-trap, and pressure-testing every connection before we leave.

Sink Types We Install
Different sink styles require different mounting methods, cutout dimensions, and sealing approaches. We install all common residential sink types:
- Drop-In Sinks
Rim-supported and set into a countertop cutout. Common in kitchens and bathrooms, and generally the most straightforward swap when the cabinet and countertop are staying in place. - Undermount Sinks
Mounted below the countertop surface for a clean, integrated look. Requires careful adhesive bonding and support, and the countertop material must be compatible. - Farmhouse & Apron Sinks
Front-facing apron panel that extends to the cabinet face. Cabinet modification is often required to support the added weight and exposure of the front panel. - Pedestal Sinks
Freestanding basin supported by a floor-mounted pedestal. Popular in smaller bathrooms where under-sink storage isn’t a priority. Supply and drain lines must be routed through the pedestal column. - Utility and Laundry Sinks
Deep-basin sinks for laundry rooms, garages, or workshops. Often involves running new supply lines and a standpipe drain connection if replacing an older setup.
Regardless of sink type, we check the shutoff valves during installation. Corroded or aging valves are frequently replaced at this stage to avoid a failure after the new sink is in place.
Signs Your Sink May Need Replacement
Not every plumbing problem calls for a full replacement, but several conditions make a new sink the better choice over continued repairs:
- Visible cracks or chips in the basin that trap debris and can’t be refinished effectively
- Recurring leaks around the drain, overflow, or supply connections that reappear after repeated repairs
- Spreading rust on stainless steel that has progressed past surface discoloration
- Persistent staining or discoloration that cleaning products no longer address
- Undersized basin that no longer fits your household’s daily needs
- Remodeling projects where the existing sink doesn’t match the updated countertop, cabinetry, or style
Sink lifespan varies by material. Stainless steel typically runs 15 to 30 years, porcelain or cast iron 25 to 50 years, composite granite 20 to 30 years, and acrylic or fiberglass utility sinks 10 to 20 years. If your fixture is approaching or past those ranges and showing wear, replacement may cost less than ongoing repairs.
